Valves are essential connecting points in the piping system and it is necessary to insulate them to avoid problems with the overall functioning of the system. Valve covers help you do just that. They insulate double-regulating valves whilst also protecting them from external damage. In our expert opinion, valve covers are the smartest way to insulate valves and here are reasons why we think so:

Manufacture: At Buy Insulation Online, we supply insulation jackets made with superior quality silicone glass cloth. For insulation, we use 50mm Rockwool for insulation. The glass cloth ensures a smooth, and neat finish to the valves after installation. Rockwool  Insulation helps with heat loss and makes the building more energy-efficient. Valve jackets also have velcro straps and pull cords. They perfectly fit around the double-regulating valves. They also help protect the valves from any external damage.

Thermal Insulation: Low thermal conductivity mineral wool helps protect double-regulating valves from heat loss by giving airtight insulation around valves. So the valve jackets bring in a significant reduction in energy bills and save money, especially in commercial and industrial establishments.

Safer Workplace: The valve covers help protect your employees from contact with hot surfaces of double-regulating valves, thereby improving workplace safety. They also reduce instances of condensation and sweating double regulating valves. Therefore, no water drips, prevent the formation of tiny water pools in the workplace, which could lead to accidents.

Easy Maintenance: Valve covers come with velcro straps and pull cords that ensure they snugly fit around double-regulating valves. With no gaps left in the insulation, you will get a more energy-efficient building. This also reduces installation time by half. They can just as easily be removed, for maintaining the valves. Valve covers do not harm the insulation or the valves in any way, unlike hard, traditional insulation.

Additional information:

  • We do site surveys and supply valve covers or we can only survey your premises. If you would like a survey, kindly email us your site address or fill out the contact form above.
  • The prices for the chilled/cold water valve jackets may differ from the ones displayed on the website. Chilled/cold water valves usually need to be wrapped with a vapour barrier which would increase the size of the jacket required and also the cost. If you need chilled/cold water valve covers, please mail us your requirements and we will send you a quote for your order.
  • We also make valve covers in red, blue and green colours. If you have any such requirements, please get in touch with us.

Double Regulating Valve Insulation Jackets

Valves and flanges serve as critical junction points in an H&V system. Therefore, it is important to maintain them properly to ensure the smooth functioning of the HVAC system.  A major part of maintenance involves protecting them from heat loss, and this is where valve jacket insulation can be of major help.

Double-regulating valve jacket insulation is specially designed to provide airtight insulation to DRVs. Made with mineral wool insulation, they restrict heat loss or gain through these valves. They are easy to install and remove and ensure a longer service life for the DRVs.

At Buy Insulation Online, we supply double-regulating valve jackets in standard sizes ranging from 15mm to 500mm. We also make custom valve jackets to suit your requirements. We offer survey services. If you want us to survey your premises and quote you for your requirements, please email or call us.

Now, let us discuss these double-regulating valve jackets in a little more detail:

What are Double-Regulating Valves?

DRVs or Double Regulating valves are mainly used to drop pressure or resist the flow of liquids in the by-pass of a diverter valve or a three-port. The term double regulating jackets was coined in the UK.

Why insulate Double-Regulating Valves?

As mentioned earlier, DRVs help regulate the flow of liquids. Therefore it is important to ensure that these valves are maintained properly. In other words, it is necessary to protect them from dust, damage and more importantly heat loss.

By Insulating DRVs using valve jackets, you ensure protection from heat loss and dirt. Valve jacket insulation also protects valves from damage and extreme external conditions.

Benefits of valve jacket insulation:

Using valve jacket insulation  can bring in many benefits, including:

  • Reduced heat loss or gain.
  • Savings in energy and money
  • Protects DRVs against dirt, dust and other pollutants.
  • Reduces maintenance time by half.
  • Improves workplace safety
  • Prevents condensation and sweating in DrVs

How does valve jacket insulation work?

Valve jackets work by minimising the temperature difference between the valves and their surroundings and by restricting heat flow through their fabric. They are made of two major components that help achieve this:

Fibreglass cloth: The outer part of these insulation jackets is made of fibreglass cloth. It is coated with PVC or silicone, to ensure resistance against some tough conditions. Only the fibreglass cloth that passes stringent tests and is approved by regulatory bodies is used to make valve covers.

Insulation: Each valve jacket insulation for the DRVs has about 50mm of mineral wool insulation. Mineral wool has a low K-value, and hence restricts heat flow through its fabric. This means heat loss or gain is restricted, saving energy.

Valve covers also have pull cords and velcro straps to ensure airtight insulation around DRVs.

Where to buy valve jackets for Double-Regulating Valves?

You can buy valve jackets online here at Buy Insulation Online. We supply them in standard sizes ranging from 15mm to 500mm in standard black and standard grey colours. If you have bespoke requirements or need valve jackets in a diffrenet colour like white, blue, silver,  etc, please do not hesitate to email us.

Choosing the right Double-regulating valve cover online:

Selecting the right valve jacket for your application is quite easy. If your DRVs are on a pipe that is about 32mm in size, then you need a 32mm valve jacket insulation. Another important factor to note is the thickness of the pipe lagging. We will need this information, to ensure a perfect fit around your Double-Regulating Valves.

How do install valve jackets around Double-Regulating Valves?

Clean the DRVs to rid them of any dirt or impurities. Simply wrap the valve jackets around the DRV and secure them tightly around the valve using the velcro straps and draw cords. To uninstall, just loosen the pull cords and velcro straps.

Can valve jackets be used at 500°C.?

The valve covers we stock at Buy Insulation Online can only be used at temperatures between -20°C to 220°C. Please email us for valve jackets that suit high-temperature requirements (anything above 220°C)

Can valve jackets be used externally?

Yes, these valve jackets can be used outside a building.

How do valve covers prevent condensation?

Valve covers cover DRVs thereby reducing the temperature difference between the valves and their surroundings. Since they also prevent heat loss through their fabric, they extend the dew point, thus preventing condensation or sweating in double-regulating valves.

How do valve covers improve workplace safety?

As mentioned earlier, valve jackets cover the surface of the DRVs, thereby protecting personnel from coming in direct contact with the hot surface of the valve. Secondly, since they almost eliminate condensation or sweating around DRVs, water does not accumulate on the floor near the valve. This prevents slips and therefore giving a safe work environment.

How do valve covers reduce maintenance time?

Valve covers are very easy to use. They are lightweight insulation jackets that can be installed or removed within minutes. This property comes in handy when the insulation around DRVs needs to be removed urgently for maintenance purposes.

Unlike the hard insulation that was traditionally used to insulate valves, valve jackets do not harm the valves in any way. They are very easy and simple to install and remove, unlike hard insulation.

If you have any more questions regarding valve jacket insulation for Double-Regulating Valves or need clarification about the right size for your DRVs, please email us and we will be happy to assist you.
