Application Guidelines
Surface Preparation
For optimal results, ensure the surface is as dry as possible. However, Watco Roofite is also effective for emergency patch repairs on surfaces with running water. Begin by removing any loose material, dirt, and debris. For very porous or dry surfaces, prime the area with Watco Roofite diluted with 25% white spirit. Use a wire brush to clear moss and other growths; heavily contaminated areas may require a fungicide. If dealing with old asbestos or cement roofs, always seek specialist advice before proceeding.
Application Instructions
Apply Watco Roofite generously with a brush, covering approximately 1m² per kilo of product. For best results, apply a second coat at a right angle to the first, ensuring full coverage without brushing out to a thin film.
For cracks, splits, holes, and leaks at roof sheet overlaps:
- Apply a thick layer of Watco Roofite to the affected area.
- Immediately embed a strip of Watco Scrim, cut to the required size, into the coating.
- Apply another layer of Watco Roofite over the scrim using a stippling motion, then allow it to cure.
For deep pits and cracks in flat concrete roofs:
- Prime the area with a layer of Watco Roofite.
- Prepare a mortar mix by combining Watco Roofite with Roofite Additive.
- Trowel the mixture into the cracks or pits and allow it to set.
